How to sing with us

If you enjoy singing and want to be part of a friendly group of like-minded people, why not try us out? See the video extracts on the right to hear how we sound in concert. We really aren’t scary, and we’d love to make you feel welcome. We typically perform three or four times per year, usually in local churches.

We rehearse from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm every Monday in United Reformed Church, Osborn Road South, Fareham, PO16 7DG, where we would be very pleased to welcome people with an interest in joining us. Previous experience and the ability to sight read are desirable but not essential. You will obviously need some copies of the music. For your first few rehearsals at least, you will probably find it easiest to borrow copies from our librarian, who will be happy to assist. Ideally, do please email our secretary Susan, or ring her as above, to let her know of your interest, but failing that, just turn up anyway, and ask to speak to one of the committee.

Alternatively, you could look out for one of our choral workshops and join us for a day’s singing on a Saturday, as these are an excellent way see whether this is for you.

After a few rehearsals, everybody joining the choir is asked to meet with the MD for a few minutes at the end of a rehearsal to do a few basic musical exercises, known as a vocal introduction. This is very informal and designed to help you to get the most from the choir. The only people present apart from yourself will be the Musical Director and his assistant unless you would like a friend or your section rep to attend with you. For more details see here.
